Do you miss out of work due to period pains? Does your PMS trouble you? Are you periods few and far between, or non-existent?

Acupuncture is one of the most amazing treatments I have come across when it comes to regulating periods. Read my case study on it as an example.

One of acupuncture’s main attributes is it’s ability to regulate the menstrual cycle and relieve PMS and period pain. Incredible, I know. Particularly as it is almost considered the norm in modern day society to have at least one of those problems. If you are all too familiar with mood swings, headaches, and pain, perhaps acupuncture is worth trying.

You will be asked detailed questions around your menstruation. Anything relevant from your menarche (first period) onwards is taken into consideration. This includes any medical history or family history such as fibroids, endometriosis or infertility. Other things that are relevant are the colour of the blood, the appearance of clots, and location of pain.

In cases of amenorrhoea (lack of periods), this information is still relevant to the last period, but the main aim is to produce a period. Women often experience a lack of periods after coming off the contraceptive pill, during severe stress or after emotional shock.

What ever the reason may be, the acupuncturist tries to locate the pattern of disharmony in the body in order to then reverse it.

The above is fairly generic information, but all patients receive an individualised treatment according to their symptoms and requirements.
